London, UK (September 19, 2023) — Thallo, a leading climate tech start-up, today announced that seasoned fintech and capital markets executive Ivar Wiersma has joined the company as Chief Commercial Officer. Wiersma brings over 20 years of experience in capital markets, fintech, blockchain, digital assets, and venture building to the table.

Having previously set up ING’s Wholesale Banking innovation arm, Wiersma has a strong track record for building high-performing teams and delivering commercial results. His responsibilities included ING’s blockchain team, ING Labs and the bank’s data science team, and he was responsible for numerous product launches, spin-out companies and new revenue generation. His strategic thinking and hands-on execution have been instrumental in creating revenue streams worth tens of millions from scratch. Prior to joining Thallo, Wiersma served in the Executive team at R3, where he was responsible for the firm’s confidential computing activities and its start-up program.
